Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and
relaxation that also promotes healing. An unseen "life force
energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life
force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress,
and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
There is nothing that Divine Love cannot heal, and Reiki is a form of Divine Love that can be learned by anyone and used to help themselves and others.
A guide to your Chakras:
Root Chakra (#1):
This chakra is positioned at the base of your spine, it is the color red.
This chakra roots your auric/ethereal body to the Earth. This is where
all your primal emotions and instincts lie, this is the chakra of survival,
grounding, safety, and building family (roots). This chakra can physically
affect bones, joints, immune system, skin disorders, IBS, and prostate cancer.
What can unbalance this chakra can be: stuffing down emotions, insecurity, and
not being grounded.
Sacral Chakra (#2): This chakra is positioned below the belly button but above the groin, it is the color of orange. This chakra is all about relationships, sexual drive, creativity, confidence, energy, and financial stability. This is where you can become over stimulated or under-stimulated which can affect your libido, and sexual fertility; as well as your daily energy. The physical symptoms of this chakra being unbalanced can be: eating disorders, low self esteem, lack of creativity, kidney issues, dependency issues, reproductive issues, irregular period, and unbalanced hormones & emotions.
Solar Plexus Chakra (#3): This chakra is positioned at the diaphragm, it ts the color of yellow. This chakra is all about your self confidence, power, desire, instincts, abundance, projects/work. This is the chakra that gives us that "gut feeling." If this chakra is unbalanced it could affect the memory, concentration, anxiety, and eating disorders. Digestive issues (from stuffing those feelings!), food allergies, indigestion, poor metabolism, obesity, acne, and skin related issues.
Heart Chakra (#4): This chakra is positioned right on the sternum next to the heart, its color is Green. This chakra is all about your ability to love, compassion, empathy, understanding, self-love, safety, trust, forgiveness, and relationships. The Heart Chakra is the center of your spirit as well as the center of your chakras. If this chakra becomes unbalanced it could affect the ability to love self and love others, and the ability to trust others. It can also affect the body physically through asthma, pneumonia, lung issues, heart palpitations, heart disease, breast issues, as well as respiratory & circulatory system issues. Psychologically it can cause one to be apathetic, unforgiving, detached, depressed, hopeless, distrustful, and uncommitted.
Throat Chakra (#5): This chakra is positioned right above the collarbone at the base of the throat, its the color blue. This chakra has all to do with speech, communication, freedom, leadership, responsibility, and expression. When this chakra is unbalanced it can affect a person's ability to verbally communicate, whether being tongue tied or literally losing one's voice. The unbalance can result in not speaking one's truth, such as a person who is extremely quiet may have a bogged down throat chakra. In opposition, if this chakra is too open/active it can result in a person becoming overbearing when they talk, cutting them off, talking over them & down to them, telling other people's stories, and etc. Some psychological symptoms of this chakra being unbalanced are anxiety, fear, nervousness, ADD, and isolation. Some physical symptoms are throat issues, sinus issues, TMJ, as well as, tonsils, esophagus, and jaw problems.
Third Eye Chakra (#6): This chakra lies just above eyes and between the brows, its color is indigo. This chakra is about the mind, intuition, ideas, thoughts, dreams, and psychic abilities. "If the third-eye chakra becomes unbalanced, we may feel bombarded with our own thoughts, unable to process them effectively and may feel stuck in an emotional and intellectual rut. We lose our sense of intuition, making our judgment clouded and causing us to make poor decisions. With a blocked third-eye chakra, we become closed to new ideas and fall off the paths of our true destiny (Mcllroy)." This can affect a person psychologically: through headaches, migraines, neurological disorders, personality disorders, learning disabilities, and hallucinations. Some of the physical symptoms can be issues with the eyes, glaucoma, ear issues, hearing loss, blindness, scalp and spinal issues.
Crown Chakra (#7): This chakra is located on the top of the head, right in the middle of your noggin. This chakra is known to be the color violet, white, rainbow, and purple; whatever color resonates with you. The crown chakra is associated with the divine, divine wisdom, spirituality, enlightenment, optimism, connection to the universe, imagination, and self awareness. Like the root chakra connects you to the earth, the crown chakra connects you to the universe. If either of these vital chakras are out of balance it can make one feel unconnected spiritually, without purpose, depressed, confused, faithless, hopeless, it can also result in dementia, epilepsy, and schizophernia if left unbalanced for long-term. Some other physical symptoms of an unbalanced crown chakra are light sensitivity, migraines, headaches, dementia, Alzheimer's, auto-immune, and neurological disorders.
The crown chakra affects the health of our brains and therefore our entire mental, physical, and spiritual health (Mcllroy).
As you may see, all the chakras overlap just a little, each one affects the other. Remember, chakra unbalance is a natural occurrence, they can come out of balance and re-balance themselves over time.
